At Medica Nova Wellness Coaching, I will guide you step-by-step through The Breath of Life – Three-Month Holistic Smoking Cessation Program that not only will inspire and empower you in the art of self-care but also in taking responsibility for the actual causes and the desire to smoke.

The program covers 12 weekly coaching sessions (about 45-60 min).

Worldwide, tobacco use kills 7 million people each year, of which nearly 1 million are due to secondhand smoke. Smoking is also the leading cause of preventable illness and death according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Smoking increases the risk of diabetes, some types of cancer, and both heart and lung disease. Tobacco contains a chemical called nicotine which is an addictive substance. It is also absorbed at the same rate as smoking tobacco and both smoking and smokeless tobacco use carry many health risks.

Quitting smoking can be tough. Fighting this addiction requires attacking it on three fronts — physically, behaviorally, and cognitively. Studies show that combination therapies can double or triple the chances of being successful. Current evidence proves that adding mind-body practices like yoga, meditation, and guided imagery may help with quitting smoking. And it is tough to overcome the emotional aspect and break the habit. For some people, the toughest cigarette to give up may be the first cigarette of the day. For other people, it may be the after-dinner cigarette, or the craving may hit the hardest while driving.

You and I take smoking seriously because it is one of the most difficult habits to break. Studies on individuals who successfully changed multiple addictions, such as smoking and heroin, smoking and cocaine, or smoking and alcohol, found that smoking was typically the toughest behavior to change. But not anymore!

 

What is Coaching and why is this different from any other coaching you have experienced before?

The best coaching is a growth-promoting relationship that elicits autonomous motivation, increases the capacity to change, and facilitates a change process through visioning, goal setting, and accountability, which at its best leads to sustainable change for the good. These aspects of the coaching relationship keep the positivity spiral moving upward. Coaching generates positivity by fostering the capacity, resources, and processes that are needed for successful change.

To get started, let’s assess what Stage of Change you are currently in by checking the statement that best reflects where you are in the process of quitting:
